That looks like it would take a lot of time and a big arc to get a good swing with it. In the meantime, you could be stabbed with a knife at least 3 times.
Also, it looks really heavy, no way in hell I would lug that in a bug-out.
Not to say it isn't awesome, and it looks like a really effective demolition tool, but I'm not so sure about it's self defense capabilities. |

Trust me, If I had a knife and my opponent pulled one of these from his belt, I turn and run like a scalded ape...and so would you. The battle ax was one of the most terrifyingly effective weapons of the middle ages and still makes an excellent last ditch implement!!!

| I'm pretty sure the battle axe was popular in the middle ages because everybody wore armor back then and only a heavy blow like that could get through it. I'm not saying I wouldn't be scared if somebody pulled one on me, but it might be a little bit less than ideal. |

That's a nice Axe, I want to buy an axe someday as my weapon too, but maybe its heavy to carry.
